The 1962 modernist school building was a recognizable image in the area. Its brown-gray facade and trees on the street side were iconic. That same façade brick - combined with new concrete strips - will reappear in the new buildings to be erected.

Although the Edward Poppe Residential Park nods to the past, it looks entirely to the future in terms of energy and mobility. The project's goal is to be nearly energy neutral. This means not using fossil energy sources, and relying on zero-emission technologies such as heat pumps and solar panels.
